Before and After School Program

Mariner Middle School Fee-Based Morning Care Program

Hours of Operation:

Before School Program will be held on each day that school is in session from 7:35 am to 9:35 am. Please DO NOT drop your child(ren) off before 7:35 am.

Enrollment forms can be picked up in the front office and must be filled out prior to attending the Before School Program. There is a non-refundable fee of $20.00 for the first child attending the program and $15 for the subsequent child(ren). This must be paid before your child may attend.

Payment for the program is due on a weekly basis and per Florida Statute must be received in advance. Please make checks payable to Mariner Middle School and a note on the check with your child’s first and last name and the week for which you are paying. If paying by cash please have the exact amount. Non-payment of fees will result in dismissal from the program. Please pay promptly.

Insufficient funds on returned checks are subject to a $25 service fee. The amount of the returned check, plus the $25 service fee must be paid in cash to Mariner Middle School. Further payments for the Before School Program will not be accepted until receipt of payment is provided to the Program Director. Upon return of a second check, all program fees must be paid in cash for the remainder of the school year.

  • For three or more days, a weekly discount price of $15 applies

To reduce discipline problems, the Mariner Middle School Before School Program places great emphasis on positive relationships between students, staff, and parents. Children and parents should be aware of the following discipline policy:

1st Offense: Verbal warning, the child will be reminded of the rule broken.

2nd Offense: The child will sit out and lose 5-10 minutes of social time.

3rd Offense: The child will sit out and lose 10-20 minutes of social time, a phone call home.

4th Offense: The child will be taken to administration.
Continuous and/or major offenses may result in a temporary or permanent suspension from the Before School Program.

Students enrolled in the Before School Program must adhere to the school’s dress code policy and be ready for the school day. Masks must be worn at all times and students must remain socially distant. Students who want breakfast will eat it in the cafeteria during the program.

The school’s clinic does not open until 9:15 so all medications must be administered at home.

Mariner Middle School Free After School Program

Mariner Middle School offers a free after school program for our students to ensure a safe and secure supervised environment for our students. Students are dismissed directly from class to the after school program. Students may not leave campus and then return to the after school program. Students who are involved with other after school clubs or activities must remain with those activities. Our after school program is 4:00 to 5:30 pm. We do not have an after school program on early dismissal days.

During the first 15 minutes, students can relax, decompress, and have a snack. Students are to bring their own snack, a snack will not be provided. Then students are to engage in some form of study, this can be homework, independent reading, completing classwork, etc. for 45 minutes of quiet time. The last 30 minutes will be free time. Students are expected to conduct themselves in the same manner as during class time. Students may talk quietly with friends, play games, read. The after school program is an extension of the school day and requires the same behavior expectations. Students must wear a mask and stay socially distanced. If problems continue administration reserves the right to temporarily or permanently remove a child from the program.

Students will be in the cafeteria for the after school program. For the safety of your child, they need to be picked up from the program every day. To pick your child up you will ring the front doorbell and show your ID. The office will radio for your child and your child will meet you at the door. If your child is to walk to the public library please notify the after school program or front office. It is imperative that your child is picked up no later than 5:30 as there will be no one available to supervise them. Please be courteous and notify the after school teacher if you are going to be late. If you are late picking up your child there will be a fee of $1/minute after 5:35. Your child will not be able to return to the program until this fee is paid. Only people who are on your child’s emergency card may pick up your child from the after school program.

Mariner Middle School hopes that our free after school program is of benefit to all of our families. Please feel free to call the school if you have any questions.
